But times have changed.

English is still of the utmost importance but the globalization trends indicate that, at this point, acquiring a good knowledge of the chinese language is one of the greatest assets one can possess.

I developed the Pinyin Talker application during my own quest for the acquisition of that new asset.

There is a vast amount of information on the web relating not only to the Chinese Language but also about China's history and Culture. On the contrary, there are not enough resources relating to one of the most difficult aspects of the learning process: the chinese pronunciation.

The purpose of the Pinyin Talker application is to provide those who are on the early stages of their learning process with a handy tool that will allow them to practice the proper pronunciation of Chinese words or phrases (chinese tones).

For the application to work correctly the user must input numeric pinyin. There is a great deal of reference material on the web that will explain the basic concepts of Pinyin. I have compiled a list of very useful resources. You can find them here.

If you have any comments or suggestion you want to share with me please write to

I grew up with the notion that in order to broaden one's horizons one should always learn to speak a second language. My mother tongue is Spanish and for me the obvious choice was to learn English.
Having learnt english has been crucial in my professional development. Thanks to that, I've always had more learning resources at my disposal which at the end always meant better employment opportunities.
